I was gratifyingly surprised to see that the film Once has done so well since its release. I saw it when it came out and thought it was an exceptional film, one that really moved me and left me with a really good feeling as I exited the theater. It was by sheer chance, or perhaps provocative writing, that I saw it. Mitzy and I had decided to go to the movies, but as always we were quite undecided as to what we should see, and movie ticket prices being what they are I’m sure you can relate. You don’t want to was $20 on schlock, unless you do, anyway, she was reading out descriptions of available films and when she read out “Irish musical” I became eager. I’m not sure if I’m Irish or not, but if I have a choice between several…choices…I tend to lean towards the Irish one, if available.
So yeah, it is nice for once to have been in on the ground floor of something that became somewhat popular, as I’m always very late to whichever fad you kids are chasing now-a-days. Anyhoo, I highly recommend this movie, and don’t let “musical” scare you away if you’re not really into musicals, it is definitely not typical of the genre. To make it exceptionally cooler the two lead stars started dating during the film and are still together, they’ve been touring and selling out gigs. Now I don’t, as a rule, get excited about “celebrities” hooking up or getting together, but when I read that information in today’s Quick newspaper I could not help but do an internal “yippee”. See the movie and you’ll kind of, maybe, see why.
